For us to pursue our vision, we are changing the way we handle insurance.
Up until now, we have been collecting the copay which is estimated by your insurance carrier. However, in the recent years, things have drastically changed with dental insurance, and we find that this is not the most effective way for both the client and the practice. Many insurance companies have implemented new treatment restrictions and decreased overall benefits, without informing the client of these changes. This causes a discrepancy in what was originally presented to the client as their “estimated” out of pocket portion and what the insurance actually pays. This results in many clients receiving an unexpected bill from the practice, because of what insurance didn’t cover due to the restrictions and limitations in their plans.
Not only has this created confusion and distrust between the practice and the client, for many dental practices, as a way to offset costs, the quality of care is comprised. For instance, reducing time spent with clients, speeding up complex procedures, increasing fees on other procedures, using less expensive dental materials, hiring inexperienced staff, and/or using inferior, foreign dental laboratories to make permanent dental restorations.
To minimize increased fees for all our clients, we have decided to change our relationship with all insurance carriers and offer a standard fee schedule. Your insurance company will refer to this as an “Out of Network” provider. This means that we are UNRESTRICTED by your insurance company, and they will not be able to dictate treatment by reducing fees for certain clients while forcing increased fees for others. We pride ourselves in our commitment to allow access to treatment at reasonable fees to all our clients regardless of their insurance. With this new standard fee schedule, we will be able to continue to deliver the exceptional dental experience all our clients have grown to love without compromising the quality of care.
We will continue to ACCEPT and FILE to ALL insurance carriers, except Medicaid and HMO plans. On the day of your appointment, we ask that you pay in full for all services that are rendered, and the insurance company will reimburse you in about 10 – 14 days according to your plan. Because it MATTERS to us that your benefits are maximized properly, we have teamed with a third-party company who specializes in insurance submission. If you have not received your reimbursement after 30 days, you may contact our office and as a courtesy we will investigate and resubmit for you.
